Belgian BeerBelgium produces arguably the World's most diverse range of beers. Alongside the famous "Trappist" and "Abbey" brews (listed separately on this site) lie intensely sour, dry, spontaneously fermentated "Lambic" beers, from the Zenne valley near Brussels; Witbier (White Beer) made famous globally by the Hoegaarden brand; intensely hoppy pale beers somewhat like a very traditional British or modern American IPA; sour brown ales from Flanders; sour, oak aged refreshing red ales like the legendary Rodenbach, fruit beers (generally cherry or raspberry, though a multitude of other fruits can been used); strong golden ales such as the now World-famous Duvel; a multitude of strong, brown ales loosely modelled on the Scottish Export beers of the nineteenth century and just about everything else inbetween. Oh, they make Pilsner too!
